Modeling masaje

What is it?

Modeling massage is a treatment performed with stronger and deeper movements, with the aim of reaching deeper layers of the skin.

Indications

Its main purposes are to activate local metabolism, increase blood circulation and stimulate neuromuscular responses, which gives the impression of a stiffer body immediately after the procedure.

Contraindications

Individuals with heart disease or hypertension are contraindicated, as massage promotes vasodilation, potentially raising systemic blood pressure.

Those with a fever should also avoid it, as the procedure can further elevate body temperature. Individuals with osteoporosis are at risk of fractures or microfractures due to bone fragility.

Varicose veins and capillary fragility are also contraindicated due to vigorous movements that can rupture the spider veins (which will cause bruising) and in more serious cases of varicose veins, a larger vessel may be damaged.

Pregnant women are also contraindicated for this massage.

How is it done?

Modeling massage has more vigorous movements than lymphatic drainage, performed quickly and firmly. It uses movements such as sliding, kneading, pinching and percussion. It is generally restricted to areas with a large accumulation of fat, such as: abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs and sometimes the arms.

Frequency

Each session lasts an average of 30 to 40 minutes, and there may be an interval of 48 to 72 hours between each session, depending on the professional’s assessment.

Care

The ideal is to try to leave the creams used for massage on the skin for up to two hours, so that they can act for longer and bring benefits to the skin. Performing aerobic physical activity during this period is a great option to enhance the benefits of massage.
