Lipocavitation

What is it?

Lipocavitation is an aesthetic treatment that uses ultrasound to reduce fat located in any area of the body that has fat accumulation.

Lipocavitation

Indications

This treatment is mainly indicated for cases of localized fat. Due to the improvement of localized fat, lipocavitation can also alleviate cellulite.

Contraindications

For patients who have fatty liver (hepatic steatosis) or high cholesterol, this aesthetic procedure should be avoided. Pregnant women should also avoid treatment. Individuals with a history of tumor or cancer should also avoid treatment.

How is it done?

The ultrasound is emitted by a machine and transmitted to the treatment area through a head, the end of this device. It is necessary to use a gel at the interface between the device and the skin so that the ultrasound is adequately transmitted.

The ultrasonic energy emitted penetrates the subcutaneous fat, generating small bubbles inside the fat cells – the adipocytes. These bubbles progressively increase in number and cause agitation inside the cell and lead to its rupture. “The fat then breaks down into fatty acid and glycerol: the fatty acid binds to a substance called albumin and is eliminated by the liver; glycerol is soluble in water and is therefore eliminated through the lymphatic vessels and urine.”

Frequency

From the first session it is possible to see a difference, however, on average, four to eight lipocavitation sessions are necessary for the complete result. Each one lasts around 30 minutes.
